AN ORIGINAL PIECE OF OAK FROM THE VESSEL HMS VICTORY |

The year 2005 celebrates the 200th anniversary of the great battle known as The Battle of Trafalgar. This item is one of many fabulous pieces available from TRAVELLERS IN TIME celebrating that 200th anniversary. This item is an original piece of oak from the flagship of Lord Horatio Nelson HMS Victory. It is 3" (7.5cm) wide and is a genuine oak ships piece. The souvenir comes in a plastic protection box and is mounted on a velvet cushion showing the name of the vessel.

SUPERB PAIR OF LEATHER BOUND HMS VICTORY SOUVENIR BOOK ENDS |

This item is a nice pair of souvenir Book Ends from Lord Horatio Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory. They are thought to be an early souvenir and are in a truly fantastic condition.
Both pieces show a view of the ship on and also the ship’s name. The Book Ends are made of a superior quality leather and are a great find.

SMALL BRASS HINGED LID MATCHBOX SHOWING HMS VICTORY AND NAME |

This item is an interesting Nelson related piece. It is a small brass matchbox, possibly used as a table object, which has a hinged lid and is supported on four lion shaped feet. The matchbox shows a superb view of Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory and also shows the ships name across it. The size of the matchbox is 3¼" (8cm) long and it is in a fantastic condition. It is an old souvenir piece which is difficult to date.

A COPPER EMBOSSED OAK PANELLED PLAQUE OF HMS VICTORY |

This particular item would look great if on dispaly. It is a beautifully chamfered edged oak panel with a copper embossed top surface. On the copper front is a superb view of Lord Nelson’s famous flagship ‘HMS VICTORY’ and also the following inscription: “HMS Victory first rate 104 guns lying in Portsmouth Harbour”. The size of this panel is 11" x 7½" (28cm x 18cm) and it is in a very good condition.
An interesting point about this wooden panel is that on the copper plaque it shows in the background a number of cut down naval ships being used as prison or training use. This would indicate that this is a very early item.

AN OLD SMALL DARK WOOD HANDMADE HINGED NUTMEG BOX |

This is a superb item, which is very old and still in a fabulous working condition. It is a small oblong wooden box with a hinged lid, made with a nice dark wood patina finish.
This type of box was used by officers of the period, and contained nutmegs or papers etc. The size of the box is 3½" x 1¼" (9cm x 4cm), and is an original item from the Napoleonic period.

A SMALL PERIOD PRINT SHOWING ‘DEATH OF NELSON’ SCENE |

This item is an interesting Lord Horatio Nelson related piece, and is a particularly old one at that. It is a small print from the Napoleonic period, which shows a black and white view of the ‘Death of Lord Nelson’ scene.
It is interesting to note the item shows Nelson surrounded by Hardy, surgeon and able seaman holding a lantern. It is believed this is a correct view of how Nelson faced his final moments, and the group who had gathered around him.
The size of the print is 6¾" x 3¾" (17cm x 9.5cm) and it is in a fantastic condition. The age of this print is not known but is has been considered to be of the period.

18th CENTURY MODEL ‘PISTOL POWDER MEASURE’ MADE OF BONE |

This item is a small section of bone, which has been handmade into a model item by an old seafarer. It is a small ‘pistol powder measure’, which was made while on a long journey at sea by French prisoners of war.
The prisoners made many items such as this from bone fragments while on board the prison ships, and this item is a superb example of their craft.
The ‘powder measure’ has a rope design top and is in a very good condition apart from the fact that the old cork top is missing. The item is 1" (3cm) long and original from the Napoleonic period.

AN ORIGINAL 1805 MUSKET FLINT SALVAGED FROM A SHIPWRECK |

This item is an original old brown mess musket flint from the early 1800's. It was located from the shipwreck of the old East India Company vessel ‘The Earl of Abergavenny’.
This old ship tragically sank in Weymouth Bay off the Dorset coast, England on the 5th February 1805. The musket flint is original and in a good condition. Full details of the vessel and authentication of the musket flint accompany the item.

AN OLD ‘HORSE BRASS’ SHOWING A BUST OF NELSON IN CENTRE |

This item is an interesting Nelson related piece. It is a nice old ‘horse brass’ showing in the centre a bust of Lord Nelson, with a superb bordered edge section.
It is an old item and is difficult to date, but it is believed to be early 1900’s to commemorate the centenary of The Battle of Trafalgar. It is in a very good condition with a cast back to the frame and the size is 3¾" (9.5cm) wide.

SOME OLD BONE DOMINOES FROM DOUBLE NINE TO DOUBLE BLANK |

2005 celebrated the 200th anniversary of the great battle known as The Battle of Trafalgar. This is an old collection of dominoes from one to two hundred years ago. They are a very unusual set as they are a set of original ‘double nines’, used in days gone by before the traditional sets used today of the ‘double sixes’.
The dominoes are a full size set from the double nines down to the double blanks, but unfortunately there is one missing. They are made of a combination of wood and bone, and were handmade by an old seafarer when on his days at sea.
They are an old set and are difficult to date, but it is thought that they are anywhere between 150 and 200 years old. They are all in a great condition and are a superb example of the period.
