TOURIST CLASS INFORMATION BOOK FROM THE OLD VESSEL S.S. HOME

This item is from the vessel S.S. Homeric of The Home Lines Shipping Company. It is an original ships cabin booklet giving general ships information to passengers.

The booklet was distributed in the tourist class accommodation of the vessel and was produced in English, French & Dutch. It is in very good condition.

1927 SHIPS GUIDE TO GOTHENBURG FROM THE SWEDISH AMERICAN LI.

This item is a very old booklet from 1927 and is from the Swedish American Line Company. It is a booklet produced as a ships guide to Gothenburg.

It is in a fantastic condition and opens out to a large sized map of the area.

The item is a book entitled ‘The Western Approaches’ and was written by Rear Admiral WSC Chalmers O.B.E. D.S.C.

It is a story of the battle of the Atlantic 1942 – 1945 plus a biography of Admiral Sir Max Kennedy Horton G.C.B. D.S.O.

The book contains many pictures and diagrams and is in a very good condition.

BOOK – ‘THE ADMIRALTY REGRETS’ HMS THETIS DISASTER

This is a book from 1959 entitled ‘The Admiralty Regrets’ and is by CET Warran & James Benson.

It is the story of the tragic loss of His Majesty’s submarine ‘Thetis’, later to become known as ‘Thunderbolt’.

The tragic loss of the submarine took with it the life of 162 men. The book contains over 240 pages and is a fantastic read. It contains pictures and diagrams and is in a very good condition.

A NICE COLLECTION OF ROYAL NAVAL OPEN DAYS AT CHATHAM

This item is a nice collection of Open Days given at The Chatham Naval Base in Kent. They are dated as follows:

• August 27 – 28 1972
• August 26 – 27 1973
• August 25 – 26 1974
• August 25 – 26 1975

The booklets have many fascinating details of the base and the history in general and also show the details of the vessels which would have been in port at that period.
