AN UNUSUAL SET OF ‘KNOW YOUR NAVY’ CARDS CIRCA 1960’S

This item is another of those very rare finds. It is an old original set of ‘Know Your Navy’ cards and is a complete set with their original box.

The cards show various views of ships and aircraft, also weapons etc. On the back of each is shown full details of the subject on the front. They are thought to be from the 1940’s and are the first whole set we have seen.

A MATCHBOX COVER SOUVENIR FROM THE DEVONPORT NAVAL BARRACKS

This old item is a rare to find chrome match box holder. It is from the Devonport Royal Naval Barracks and was designed for the ‘swan vesta’ size matches.

It is fairly old and comes complete with match box inside. The front of the holder shows the crest and name of the Royal Naval Barracks. It is in a superb condition and the size is 3" x 2" (8cm x 5cm). Click on the picture for a close up of the crest.

A WW2 BRASS PLATE FROM A NAVAL VESSEL

This item is a bit of a mystery but is an unusual find. It is a brass plate, which is thought to be from an old naval vessel. However some sources say it may be from an old aircraft.

It is more likely that it is of naval origins and it is in a superb condition. The inscription on the plate is as follows:

VALVE SHAFT ROTATES IN CLOCKWISE DIRECTION
GREASE ONLY WHEN POSITION 4 OR 8 IS INDICATED AT OBSERVATION HOLE IN COVER
RECOMMENDED GREASE ACHESON COLLOIDS GRADE W.V.

The size of the brass plate is 6" x 5" (15cm x 12.5cm) and it is an unusual find.

A PAIR OF ROYAL NAVAL WHITE SIDE PLATES

This item is a pair of original as used on board ship Royal Naval white side plates. They are neatly top marked with the Royal Naval logo and the size of the plates is 6¼" (16cm) wide. They are in an excellent near perfect condition.

A PAIR OF AS USED WHITE CHINA ROYAL NAVAL SIDE PLATES

This item is a pair of Royal Naval white china side plates. They are both top marked as seen with the Royal Naval logo & crown. The sizes of the plates are 6½” (16.5cm) wide and are in a very good condition. They are as used on board vessel items.

A PAIR OF SUPERB EARLY HADE MADE SEAMAN’S BONE SPOONS

This item is a pair of superbly made spoons, which have been made entirely out of bone. They have been hand made by a seaman many years ago and are a very early item. There is one large and one small spoon and the sizes are 5½" (14cm) & 3½" (9cm). Both of these pieces are in a very good condition and they are dated circa 1800–20.

A NAVAL OFFICERS INDIVIDUAL GLASS JELLY MOULD

This item is an unusual piece and is a Royal Naval officers individual dish, made of glass and in a ‘Jelly Mould’ form. It shows on the reverse on its base, a superb embossed ‘Fouled Anchor Design’. To see a view of this design slect the picture. It is in a fantastic condition and is something we have not come across before. The size of the dish is approx. 5¼" x 4" (13cm x 10cm).

A NAVAL SHIPS SURGEONS ‘POSTLE & MORTER’ BOWL

This item is an original naval ship’s surgeon’s ‘POSTLE & MORTER’ Bowl. It is quite an old item and it is in a good condition. It shows on the side the naval ‘Fouled Anchor’. The size of the bowl is 5" (13cm).

A SET OF 6 ROYAL NAVAL SHIPS DINING PLATES

This interesting item is an original set of 6 Royal Naval small ships dining plates. The items show on them a good clear blue Royal Naval logo. The plates are also in a superb condition and the size is approx. 7½" x 8½" (19cm x 21.5cm). They would make a nice display item and are a nice collecable set.

A HAND MADE NAVAL SEAMANS ITEM FROM THE 1920’s

This is a nice item from the early 1920’s. It was hand made by a seaman on board and was found tucked away in a drawer, where it appears to have been left for many years. It is a pouch effect item of some sought which would have stored away personal belongings. It is still in very good condition, and it shows the Royal Navy crest on the front. The size of the pouch open is 14" x 9" (36cm x 23cm).
