RARE TO FIND METAL CANDLE VASE FROM THE CANADIAN PACIFIC STEAMSHIP COMPANY VESSEL THE SS DUCHESS OF YORK [P]

DESCRIPTION -- Dating from the 1930's and a very rare find this is a metal candle vase from the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company vessel the SS Duchess of York and it is 5" (12.5cm) high and shows the ships emblem on the front.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The SS Duchess of York was a 20,021 ton ocean liner operated by the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company. Built in 1928 in Clydebank by the shipbuilders John Brown & Company, she was originally intended to be named Duchess of Cornwall. However agreement was reached with Red Funnel company to swap names with the latter's paddle steamer Duchess of York, launched in 1896. She was sunk in 1943 off Spain after being damaged by long range German bombers.

CHINA SIDE PLATE FROM THE CANADIAN PACIFIC STEAMSHIP COMPANY

DESCRIPTION -- Side plate from the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company and is produced in the traditional company design pattern. It is a China piece and is bottom marked CP Ships with the size being 6" (16cm) wide and is in a very good condition.

HISTORY -- In the early 1880's, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) negotiated with the Government of the United Kingdom to establish a trans-Pacific steamship routes between Vancouver and the Far East. In 1891, the Canadian Pacific Railway adopted a new name the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company (CPSC). The CPSC became one of the many shipping companies operating in and out of Liverpool. The company expanded as people emigrating from Europe to North America provided a larger number of passengers and the company also started holiday cruises.

A PAIR OF ORIGINAL COCKTAIL SPOONS FROM THE CANADIAN PACIFIC LINE VESSEL THE EMPRESS OF CANADA

DESCRIPTION -- From the old vessel the Empress of Canada from the Canadian Pacific Line this is a pairof cocktail spoons which are in a good condition and a rare find.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The RMS Empress of Canada of 1961 was the last passenger ship to be built for Canadian Pacific's Liverpool to Montreal service.  The ship was the first Canadian Pacific liner to be equipped with a bulbous bow, which, it was said would help in reducing pitching. She had Denny-Brown stabilisers and full air-conditioning.  RMS Empress of Canada was built by Vickers-Armstrongs of Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne, England for Canadian Pacific Steamships Ltd. This ship, the third CP vessel to be named Empress of Canada, regularly traversed the transatlantic route between Liverpool and Canada for many years.

DESCRIPTION -- This item is a company tie from the Canadian Pacific shipping line. It is in a great almost new condition and dates from the 1960's.

HISTORY -- The Canadian Pacific Steamship Company, one of the many shipping companies coming in and out of Liverpool, increased its operations in the Atlantic when it took over the Allan Line fleet. A new company called Canadian Pacific Ocean Services was formed and was renamed Canadian Pacific Steamships Ltd in 1921

CANADIAN PACIFIC STEAMSHIP COMPANY TRADITIONAL PATTERNED DESIGN SIDE PLATE

DESCRIPTION -- Very rare to find and in a fantastic condition this is a dining side plate from the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company and shows on it the usual fantastic colourful design associated with the shipping line. It is bottom marked and shows the company name reference and the size is 5" (13.5cm) wide (click on the picture to see the underside of the plate).

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The Canadian Pacific Line was a company under the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). The Canadian Pacific Railway Company was formed in 1881, and the company soon entered into ship-owning. In the beginning limited to transportation along Lake superior and the Great Lakes. The transatlantic passenger service however, was not started before in 1903, when CPR took over the ships and service of the Beaver Line. The division was managed as the "Canadian Pacific Ocean Services" (C.P.O.S.).

ORIGINAL OLD JIGSAW FROM THE CANADIAN PACIFIC LINE SHIPPING COMPANY [P]

DESCRIPTION -- 1960's boxed wooden jigsaw puzzle souvenir from the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company which is in great condition and dated circa 1950's with the size being approx. 8" x 8" (20cm x 20cm).

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- CP Ships was a large Canadian container shipping company that was purchased by Hapag Lloyd in late 2005. CP Ships had its head office in the City Place Gatwick development on the property of London Gatwick Airport in Crawley, West Sussex. The Company was a part of the Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. conglomerate. It was spun out as a separate company in 2001. In 2005, it was purchased by TUI AG and is now part of the company's Hapag-Lloyd division.

DESCRIPTION -- This item is a souvenir mug from the vessel The CP Voyageur of the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company. The souvenir mug is in a great condition and is original from the service.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- CP Ships was a large Canadian container shipping company, prior to being taken over by Hapag Lloyd in late 2005. CP Ships had its head office in the City of Westminster in London and later in the City Place Gatwick development on the property of London Gatwick Airport in Crawley, West Sussex. The company became an independent corporation in 2001 when it was demerged by conglomerate Canadian Pacific Limited (CP) and is incorporated in Saint John, New Brunswick but headquartered in Greater London. Its 82 ships were registered in a number countries including the UK, Bermuda, Liberia, and Germany and most of the crews were Asian. Its primary ports remain Montreal and Vancouver.

SOUVENIR TEA STRAINER FROM THE VESSEL EMPRESS OF ENGLAND OF THE CANADIAN PACIFIC STEAMSHIP COMPANY

HISTORY -- The RMS Empress of England was an ocean liner built in 1956-1957 by Vickers-Armstrongs, Newcastle, United Kingdom for the Canadian Pacific Steamships. The ship was launched in 1956; and she undertook her maiden voyage in 1957. The ship was ordered along with two other sister ships -- the Empress of Britain and the Empress of Canada. The Empress's maiden voyage began on April 18, 1957

The vessel was one of the Canadian Pacific Steamship Companies famous ships from a large seagoing fleet and this photograph is taken from our collection of over 2000 shipping photographs and the size is 10" x 8" (25cm x 20cm) and is dated as being taken in the early 1960's.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- RMS Empress of Britain was a transatlantic ocean liner built by Fairfield Shipbuilding at Govan on the Clyde in Scotland in 1955-1956 for the Canadian Pacific Steamship company. This ship, the third of three CP vessels to be named Empress of Britain, regularly traversed the trans-Atlantic route between Canada and Europe until 1964, completing 123 voyages under the Canadian Pacific flag. This Empress was distinguished by the Royal Mail Ship (RMS) prefix in front of her name because the British government and Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) had decades earlier reached agreement on a contract for subsidized trans-oceanic mail service.
