GLASS DISH FROM THE VESSEL MS VENUS OF THE BERGEN LINE

DESCRIPTION -- From the Bergen Line this is a glass type dish from the vessel the MS Venus.  The item is in a great condition and shows embossed on it the ship and company name and a picture of the vessel (click on the picture to see the engraving in the glass).

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY-- The Bergen Steamship Company (Norwegian: Bergenske Dampskibsselskab) (BDS), was founded in 1851 by Michael Krohn to operate a shipping service between the Norwegian ports of Bergen, Stavanger, and Kristiansand and the German port of Hamburg with the paddle steamer Bergen. The company funnel was black with three widely spaced narrow white bands.

EARLY SHIP'S BOOKLET FROM THE BERGEN LINE DATED 1950

DESCRIPTION -- From The Bergen Line this is an interesting early booklet which is entitled "2,500 miles on the Norwegian Coastal Steamer" and was produced in 1950 containing over 60 pages.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The Bergen Line Steamship Company was founded in 1851 to operate a shipping service between the Norwegian ports of Bergen, Stavanger, and Kristiansand and the German port of Hamburg with the paddle steamer Bergen. The company funnel was black with three widely spaced narrow white bands. BDS progressively expanded its routes to provide world wide services. The company operated a regular passenger service from West Norway to the UK from 1895, and took part in the Norwegian coastal service, the Hurtigruten, from 1894 until 1979.

GLASS DISH SOUVENIR FROM THE BERGEN LINE STEAMER SHIPPING COMPANY

DESCRIPTION -- Bergen Line Cruising Steamer company ship's decorative glass dish which is believed to be from the vessel The Venue. It is in a superb condition and the size of the dish is 4" x 3" (11cm x 8.5cm) and is a very colourful piece and is original from this shipping line.

OLD WOODEN SHIP'S PLAQUE FROM THE BERGEN LINE

DESCRIPTION -- Original item from the Bergen Line Shipping Company and it is a wooden ships plaque which shows on it the company houseflag and the company name which has been hand painted on and the size is approx. 10" (25cm) square.
