EARLY SOUVENIR SPOON FROM THE SEALINK FERRY CROSSING SERVICE

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir spoon which is an early item from the Sealink British Rail Coastal Ferry Crossing Service which is in a very good condition (click on the picture for a close up).

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- Sealink was the shipping division of then nationalised British Rail. As part of the preparations for privatisation a new livery designed by H&P associates to differentiate the operation from the British Rail corporate image was introduced on the newly acquired (on charter from Stena) ST. NICHOLAS in March 1984.

EARLY SOUVENIR SPOON FROM THE TOWNSEND THORESEN FERRIES COMPANY  

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir from the Townsend Thoresen ferry company which is an early spoon example and is in a very good condition.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- Townsend Thoresen eventually became P&O European Ferries and as a ferry company operated in the English Channel from 1987, and after the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster, Townsend Thoresen was then renamed P&O European Ferries, until 1999 when the Portsmouth Operations became P&O Portsmouth and the Dover Operations were merged with Stena Line AB to make P&O Stena Line.

VERY RARE AND VERY EARLY SOUVENIR SPOON FROM THE WHITE STAR LINE VESSEL MV BRITANNIC

DESCRIPTION -- From the White Star Line this is a very rare to find and very early souvenir spoon from the vessel the MV Britannic which is in a very fair/good condition (click on the picture to see the emblem at the end of spoon).

CONDITION – Fair/Good

HISTORY -- MV Britannic was a British transatlantic ocean liner that was launched in 1929 and scrapped in 1960. She was the penultimate ship built for White Star Line before its 1934 merger with Cunard Line. When built, Britannic was the largest motor ship in the UK Merchant Navy. Her running mate ship was the MV Georgic.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- Sealink was a ferry company based in the United Kingdom from 1970 to 1984, operating services to France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Isle of Wight and Ireland.  Ports served by the company included: Dover, Folkestone, Newhaven, Southampton and Harwich for services to the European continent; Holyhead, Fishguard, Heysham and Stranraer for services to Ireland and the Isle of Man; Weymouth and Portsmouth for services to the Channel Islands. The Isle of Wight was also served from Portsmouth and Lymington.

SOUVENIR SPOON FROM THE CUNARD LINE VESSEL THE RMS CARMANIA [P]

DESCRIPTION -- Early souvenir spoon from the Cunard Line vessel the RMS Carmania which is in an excellent condition (click on the picture to see the emblem at the end of spoon).

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- RMS Carmania was a Cunard Line transatlantic steam turbine ocean liner. She was launched in 1905 and scrapped in 1932. In World War I she was first an armed merchant cruiser (AMC) and then a troop ship . Carmania was the sister ship of RMS Caronia, although the two ships had different machinery.

DESCRIPTION -- Rare to find early souvenir spoon from the Cunard Line vessel the RMS Scythia which is in a very good condition (click on the picture to see the emblem at the end of spoon).

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- RMS Scythia was a Cunard ocean liner. She sailed on her maiden voyage in 1921, and became a troop and supply ship during the Second World War. Scythia was the longest serving Cunard liner until 4 September 2005, when her record was surpassed by RMS Queen Elizabeth 2.

SOUVENIR SPOON FROM THE FAMOUS VESSEL THE SS GREAT BRITAIN

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir spoon from the famous old ship the SS Great Britain which is in a great condition (click on the picture to see the emblem at the end of spoon).

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- SS Great Britain is a museum ship and former passenger steamship, which was advanced for her time. She was the longest passenger ship in the world from 1845 to 1854. She was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the Great Western Steamship Company's transatlantic service between Bristol and New York. While other ships had been built of iron or equipped with a screw propeller, Great Britain was the first to combine these features in a large ocean-going ship.

VERY EARLY SOUVENIR SPOON FROM THE PACIFIC STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY

DESCRIPTION -- Rare to find and very early souvenir spoon from the Pacific Steam Navigation Company which is in a good condition for such an old item and dates fom the 1920's/1930's (click on the picture to see the emblem at the end of spoon).

HISTORY -- The Pacific Steam Navigation Company (Spanish: Compañía de Vapores del Pacífico) was a commercial shipping company that operated along the Pacific coast of South America, and was the first to use steam ships for commercial traffic in the Pacific Ocean.

SOUVENIR SPOON FROM THE P&O LINE VESSEL THE SS ORIANA [P]

DESCRIPTION -- In a very good condition this is a souvenir spoon from the P&O Line vessel the Oriana (click on the picture for close up of the emblem at the end of the spoon).

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- SS Oriana was the last of the Orient Steam Navigation Company's ocean liners. She was built at Vickers-Armstrongs, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England and launched on 3 November 1959 by Princess Alexandra. Originally resplendent with her owners' traditional corn-coloured hull, Oriana appeared as an Orient Line ship until 1966, when that company was fully absorbed into the P&O group.
