DESCRIPTION -- Very rare find of an old ships accommodation plan for the Orient Line vessel the RMS Ormonde which is in a good condition for an old paper item.

CONDITION --
HISTORY -- The RMS Ormonde was built by Orient Lines in 1917 and served the UK - Suez - Australia route between the wars. Converted to one-class in 1933. Troop carrier in WWII. Returned to commercial service in 1947, again on the Europe - Australia route. The 15,000 ton R.M.S. Ormonde, launched in 1917, was the largest ship yet built for the Australian trade and the Orient Line's first ship to feature a cruiser style stern and to be fully steam turbine powered.

DESCRIPTION -- Silver Plated souvenir jug from the vessel the SS Orsova from the Orient Line shipping company, which is in a fair to good condition and shows on it the name and company houseflag and is circa 1950's.

HISTORY -- The SS Orsova, a 1503-passenger ocean liner, was built by Vickers Armstrong Shipbuilders Ltd. of Barrow-in-Furness, England, in 1954 for the Orient Steam Navigation Company for UK to Australia services via the Suez Canal, the voyage taking four weeks. After 1955, the return trip was eastward via Auckland, Suva, Honolulu, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Panama, Trinidad and Cherbourg.

DESCRIPTION -- FantSet of original souvenir playing cards from the Orient Line shipping company, which are from the 1950's and are in a very good condition (click on picture to set other side of playing cards and box).

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- Orient Steam Navigation Company / Orient-Royal Mail Line / Orient Line started in 1877 with chartered steamers to Australia. In 1878 the Orient Steam Navigation Co. formed by Anderson, Anderson & Co., in conjunction with Pacific Steam Nav.Co. In 1906 the PSNCo. was acquired by Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. and the service became known as the Orient-Royal Mail Line but this arrangement terminated in 1909. In 1919 the P&O Line acquired a controlling interest in the Orient Line and in 1938 The Australia service extended to New Zealand. In 1965 P&O acquired the whole of the Orient Line shareholding and the company became a P&O subsidiary.

HISTORY -- SS Orcades was an ocean liner serving primarily the UK - Australia - New Zealand route. She started service as a British Royal Mail Ship (RMS) carrying first and tourist class passengers. Orcades carried many migrants to Australia and New Zealand and was later used as a cruise ship. "Orcades" is the Latin name for the Orkney Islands.

DESCRIPTION -- As used onboard long spoon from the Orient Line shipping company which is in a very good condition, and shows the company emblem on the end of the spoon, and is 7" (18cm) long.

HISTORY -- The Orient Line's beginnings can be traced back to the formation of a shipbroking company by James Thompson (or Thomson) in 1797. The company was operating a small fleet of sailing ships by the early 19th century, and by the middle of the century they were sailing on routes all over the world.

DESCRIPTION -- Ever so rare to find original as sold on board small souvenir jug from the SS Oriana of the Orient Line shipping company. Rare very early souvenir which is 2½" (6cm) high and in a fantastic condition and shows the name on side.

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- The SS Oriana was the last of the Orient Steam Navigation Company's ocean liners. She was built at Vickers-Armstrongs, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England and launched on 3 November 1959 by Princess Alexandra. Originally resplendent with her owners' traditional corn coloured hull, SS Oriana appeared as an Orient Line ship until 1966, when that company was fully absorbed into the P&O group.

DESCRIPTION -- Fantastic find which is an as used on board coffee pot from the Orient Line shipping company. It is produced in the traditional sea shell design and dates from the 1960's. The size of the coffee pot is 8" (20cm) high and is bottom marked by makers for the Orient Line. It has very slight damage to the inside top (not seen from outside) as shown if you click on the picture.

DESCRIPTION -- Wedgwood design dining side plate as used on board from the Orient Line shipping company. It is dated circa 1960's and shows on it the traditional company design and logo in the centre. It is bottom marked Orient Line and also the Wedgwood mark and is 6" (15cm) wide with a small chip on the reverse.
