UNUSED COLOUR POSTCARD OF THE CUNARD LINE VESSESL THE RMS IVERNIA

DESCRIPTION -- Very rare to find and early unused mint condition colour postcard of the very famous Cunard Line vessel The RMS Ivernia which is an early example postcard.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The RMS Ivernia was a British ocean liner owned by the Cunard Line, built by the company Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson of Newcastle upon Tyne, England and launched in 1899. The Ivernia was one of Cunard's intermediate ships, that catered to the vast immigrant trade. Her sistership was SS Saxonia. The Ivernia worked on Cunard's service from Liverpool to Boston and then later on the immigrant run from Trieste to New York City.

DESCRIPTION -- Postcard from the early 1960's of the RMS Queen Mary which is in full colour and unused being in excellent condition.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The RMS Queen Mary was and is one of the grandest Passenger liners ever built. This giant of the sea offered luxury and a standard unequaled in shipbuilding history. During her remarkable career, from her maiden voyage in 1936 until this day, Queen Mary has played various roles, from an elegant Ocean Liner, to a WWII trooper, then after 1001 Atlantic crossings, RMS Queen Mary was preserved and became a fine hotel and tourist facility in Long Beach California.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused early colour postcard from the old Cunard Line vessel the RMS Saxonia which is original and is in an excellent and an early item.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- RMS Saxonia (the second vessel to have this name), was a British passenger liner built by John Brown & Company at Clydebank, Scotland for the Cunard Steamship Company for their Liverpool-Montreal service. She was the first of four almost identical sister ships built by Browns between 1954 and 1957 for UK-Montreal service.  It was later renamed Carmania and painted in the same green cruising livery as the Caronia.

HISTORY -- The Bibby Line is a UK company concerned with shipping and marine operations.  Its parent company, Bibby Line Group Limited, can be traced back to John Bibby who founded the company in 1807 and the company along with the group is based in Liverpool, England.

HISTORY -- The SS Iberia was a Himalaya-class ocean liner for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) built in 1952. Along with her sister ships Himalaya, Arcadia and Chusan, Iberia mainly provided passenger service between the United Kingdom and Australasia.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused mint condition colour postcard from the old Cunard White Star Line vessel the RMS Ausonia which is original and is an early item.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- RMS Ausonia, launched in 1921, was one of Cunard's six post World War I "A-class" ocean liners for the Canadian service.  Ausonia was built in Newcastle, England by Armstrong, Whitworth & Co., launched on 22 March 1921, and completed in June. She made her maiden voyage on 31 August 1921 from Liverpool to Montreal, and the following season went into service on the London-Canada route.

CONDITION -- Good

HISTORY -- The Union-Castle Line was a prominent British shipping line that operated a fleet of passenger liners and cargo ships between Europe and Africa from 1900 to 1977. It was formed from the merger of the Union Line and Castle Shipping Line. It merged with Bullard King and Clan Line in 1956 to form British & Commonwealth Shipping, and then with South African Marine Corporation in 1973 to create International Liner Services, but maintained its separate identity throughout. Its shipping operations ceased in 1977.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused mint condition postcard from the early 1960's of the Cunard Line vessel the RMS Sylvania which is in full colour and a fine example rare example postcard.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The RMS Sylvania was an ocean liner built in 1957 by John Brown & Co (Clydebank), Glasgow, Scotland for the United Kingdom-based shipping company Cunard Line. She was the last Cunard Line vessel built specifically for transatlantic crossings. The ship was later heavily rebuilt as a cruise ship, and sailed under the names SS Fairwind, SS Sitmar Fairwind, SS Dawn Princess and SS Albatross before being scrapped in 2004. She was renamed SS Genoa for her last voyage.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused B/W postcard of the P&O Line vessel the Chusan which is in a fantastic condition and is just one of our vast stock collection.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The SS Chusan was a British ocean liner and cruise ship, built for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O)'s Indian and Far East Service in 1950. She was named after Chusan, a small island off China. A smaller version of the SS Himalaya, the Chusan had a gross register tonnage of approximately 24,215; and a capacity of 1,565 passengers and crew. She was built as a replacement for the ship RMS Viceroy of India, lost in the Second World War. She was approximately 646.5 feet (197.1 m) long.
