EARLY SOUVENIR GLASS FROM THE PADDLE STEAMER THE WAVERLEY

DESCRIPTION -- From the paddle steamer The Waverley this is an item that is produced from its Scottish voyages, which is a souvenir glass and is in a very good condition with the size being 3" (8cm) tall and shows on it the name a picture of the vessel

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The PS Waverley is the last seagoing passenger carrying paddle steamer in the world. Built in 1946, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973. Purchased by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society, she has been restored to her 1947 appearance and now operates passenger excursions around the British coast. Since 2003, Waverley has been listed in the British National Register of Historic Ships core collection as 'a vessel of pre-eminent national importance'. She appeared in the 2011 film Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

DESCRIPTION -- Early B/W photograph from the Federal Steam Navigation company and is of the vessel Northumberland and the photograph is in a great condition and an early shot of the vessel.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- In 1912, a successful major agreement was reached whereby the Federal Steam Navigation Company was absorbed into the New Zealand Shipping Company, but the Federal Steam Navigation ships would retain their distinctive house flag, and continue to be named after English counties, thereby retaining their individual identities. The Federal Steam Navigation Company was registered in England for tax purposes, whereas the New Zealand Shipping Company continued to be registered in New Zealand.

EVER SO RARE TURN OF THE CENTURY PADDLE STEAMERS ASHTRAY

DESCRIPTION -- From the old Red Funnel Steamers Company this is a turn of the century original paddle steamers ship's ashtray and this item is a heavy weather type object and is very solid throughout and was usually for outside use.  This superb old ashtray shows in the bottom of it a gold background with the usual company houseflag shown in full colour plus it also reads across it the company name "RED FUNNEL STEAMERS".  The size is approx. 5" (13cm) square and is an item which is a real collectors piece from the old paddle steamers era and a very rare and very heavy piece hence high p&p.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The Southampton Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Limited, which trades as Red Funnel, is a ferry company which carries passengers and vehicles on routes between the English mainland and the Isle of Wight. Vehicle/passenger ferries operate between Southampton and East Cowes, whilst the Red Jet branded high-speed foot passenger service operates between Southampton and Cowes (contentiously called West Cowes throughout the company's literature). Its head office is in the Red Funnel Travel Centre in Southampton.
