WHITE STAR LINE
DESCRIPTION -- Used mint condition colour postcard from the old Cunard White Star Line vessel the RMS Ausonia which is original and is an early item.

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- RMS Ausonia, launched in 1921, was one of Cunard's six post World War I "A-class" ocean liners for the Canadian service. Ausonia was built in Newcastle, England by Armstrong, Whitworth & Co., launched on 22 March 1921, and completed in June. She made her maiden voyage on 31 August 1921 from Liverpool to Montreal, and the following season went into service on the London-Canada route.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused colour postcard of the Furness Line vessel The Pacific Grove which is in a very good condition and is just one of our vast stock collection of postcards.

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- In 1878 Thomas and Christopher Furness commenced shipowning, in 1883 Christopher Furness purchased an interest in the shipyard of Edward Withy and in 1884 bought the company outright. In 1885 Christopher Furness collaborated with Thomas Wilson to form the Wilson-Furness Line to operate services between Newcastle and New York.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused B&W postcard from the Royal Mail Line vessel the RMS Mooltan which is in a good condition.

CONDITION -- Good
HISTORY -- RMS Mooltan was an ocean liner and Royal Mail Ship of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O). She was ordered in 1918 and completed in 1923. She served in the Second World War first as the armed merchant cruiser HMS Mooltan (F75) and then as a troop ship. She was retired from P&O service in 1953 and scrapped in 1954. RMS Mooltan was unusual in combining both quadruple-expansion steam engines and turbo-electric transmission. When completed in 1923 she had only her quadruple-expansion engines, but in 1929 turbo generators and electric propulsion motors were added alongside them to increase her speed.

DESCRIPTION -- Early colour postcard of the Cunard Line vessel The Franconia and is a very rare find and not one we have seen before.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The RMS Franconia was an ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line from 1922 to 1956. She was second of three liners named Franconia which served the Cunard Line, the others being RMS Franconia built in 1910 and the third Franconia in 1963. She was launched on 21 October 1922 at the John Brown & Co shipyard in Clydebank, Scotland. Her maiden voyage was between Liverpool and New York in June 1923; she was employed on this route in the summer months until World War II. In the winter she was used on world cruises.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- RMS Samaria was a British transatlantic ocean liner built by Cammell Laird & Company in Birkenhead for the Cunard Line, and launched in November of 1920. Fitting out for service took somewhat longer than usual due to post war demands on industry but in due course Samaria entered service in April 1922.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused and rare colour postcard from the Cunard Line vessel the RMS Queen Elizabeth which is in an excellent condition.

HISTORY -- The RMS Queen Elizabeth was an ocean liner operated by Cunard Line and with Queen Mary she provided weekly luxury liner service between Southampton in the United Kingdom and New York City in the United States, via Cherbourg in France.

DESCRIPTION -- Unused B/W postcard of the Royal Mail Line vessel the RMSP Andes which is in an excellent condition and dates from the 1920's.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The Andes was the second Royal Mail Line ship to be named after the South American Andes mountain range. The first RMS Andes was an A-class liner launched in 1913 and in 1929 that RMS Andes was converted into a cruise ship and renamed Atlantis.

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- The RMS Ascania was an ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line. She was launched on 20 December 1923 at the Armstrong Whitworth Shipbuilders Ltd yard in Newcastle-upon-Tyne; the fifth of Cunard's six "A" class liners. Due to unforeseen cost overruns, the vessel was not completed until May 1925. Following service in a number of military roles during the Second World War, she was refitted and returned to civilian use in 1950, finally retiring in 1956.
