HISTORY -- The Blue Star Line was a British passenger and cargo shipping company formed in 1911, and in operation until 1998.

DESCRIPTION -- Large size colour photograph of the Blue Star line vessel the Canterbury Star which shows the ship at sea. The photograph is taken from our collection of over 2000 shipping photographs and it is in a very good condition with the size of the photograph being 10" (25cm) x 8" (20cm).

CONDITION -- As New/Unused
HISTORY -- The Blue Star Line company was formally registered on 28th July 1911 and the first ships were registered with Lloyds Register of Shipping between 1912-1913. Prior to World War I, seven refrigerated ships sailed under the Blue Star Line banner, carrying eggs and other perishables to England from China.

Blue Star Line was formed as an initiative by the Vestey Brothers, a Liverpool-based butchers company, who had founded the Union Cold Storage Company to take advantage of refrigeration practices.
