DESCRIPTION -- This Souvenir spoon from the P&O Line Sea Jet Ferries Company which is in an excellent condition.

CONDITION --
HISTORY -- P&O Ferries is a British-based company that operates ferries from the United Kingdom to Ireland and Continental Europe (France, Belgium and the Netherlands). These were previously operated at different times as separate subsidiaries of P&O under the various different names.

DESCRIPTION -- Good condition souvenir spoon from the Canadian Pacific Line vessel the SS Empress of Britain, dating from the 1950's/1960's (click on the picture for close up of the emblem at the end of the spoon).

HISTORY -- The RMS Empress of Britain was a transatlantic ocean liner built by Fairfield Shipbuilding at Govan on the Clyde in Scotland in 1955-1956 for Canadian Pacific Steamships (CP). This ship the third of three CP vessels to be named Empress of Britain, regularly traversed the trans-Atlantic route between Canada and Europe until 1964, completing 123 voyages under the Canadian Pacific flag.

DESCRIPTION -- From the vessel the Duchess of Richmond built in 1928, later renamed the Duchess of Canada, this is a souvenir spoon which is in an excellent condition (click on the picture for close up of the emblem at the end of the spoon).

CONDITION --
HISTORY -- The third of Canadian Pacific's named "Duchess" ships, the Duchess of Richmond was built by John Brown & Co. of Glasgow. Launched in June 1928, she began her career on 26 January 1929, with a cruise from Liverpool to the Canary Islands. She then entered the line's transatlantic service with a 15 March 1929 sailing from Liverpool to St. John, New Brunswick. She remained on the Liverpool to St. John (winter) or Montréal (summer) service for her entire career with Canadian Pacific.

CONDITION --
HISTORY -- With the Empress of England having been sold to Shaw Savill Lines on April 1, 1970, she was officially renamed the SS Ocean Monarch on April 4, thus she had now lost the prefix RMS. Shaw Savill had decided to send her straight to Australia without any changes, except repainting her funnel to the traditional Shaw Savill livery and painting the broad green band white.

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir spoon from the British India Steam Navigation Company vessel the MV Dunera which is in an excellent virtually unused condition (click on the picture for close up of the emblem at the end of the spoon).

CONDITION --
HISTORY -- MS (MV) Dunera began life as the HMT Dunera and was a British passenger ship which gave her name to an infamous case of wartime maltreatment and injustice. After trials in 1937, she was handed over to the British-India Steam Navigation Company and served as a passenger liner and an educational cruise ship before seeing extensive service troopship throughout the Second World War.

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir spoon from the vessel the Empress of Scotland from the Canadian Pacific Line which is in an excellent condition. The vessel later ended up with the Hamburg America Line and became the Hanseatic in 1958 (click on the picture for close up of the emblem at the end of the spoon).

HISTORY -- The Empress of Japan was built in 1930 for the trans-Pacific services out of Vancouver of the Canadian Pacific Line. She was renamed Empress of Scotland in October 1942 following the entry of Japan into WW2 (albeit after a gap of eleven months!). After the war she was transferred to the Atlantic service from Liverpool, replacing the Empress of Britain which had been lost. The promenade deck was plated in for Atlantic service.

DESCRIPTION -- From the vessel the RMS Duchess of Atholl this is a souvenir spoon dates the 1930's and is in a very good condition. The vessel was sadly lost in 1942 when sunk off Ascension Islands by a German U178 submarine (click on the picture for close up of the emblem at the end of the spoon).

HISTORY -- RMS Duchess of Atholl was a 20,019 GRT ocean liner of Canadian Pacific Steamships Ltd that sailed between Liverpool and Canada. William Beardmore and Company built her in Dalmuir, Dumbartonshire in 1928. For a month in 1928, Duchess of Atholl held the record for an eastbound crossing from Canada to Liverpool, at 6 days, 13 hours. In 1940, Duchess of Atholl left Liverpool on 19 July 1940, bound for Quebec and Montreal with passengers including evacuated children. The German Type IX submarine U-178 sank her in the South Atlantic on 10 October 1942, killing four of the liner's crew.

HISTORY -- Queen Elizabeth 2, often referred to simply as QE2, is a floating hotel and retired ocean liner built for the Cunard Line which was operated by Cunard as both a transatlantic liner and a cruise ship from 1969 to 2008. Since 18 April 2018 she has been operating as a floating hotel in Dubai.

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir boxed spoon from the P&O European Ferries company which dates from the 1960's, is in its original presentation box and is in a very good condition. The spoon shows at the top the company name and a view of a seagoing vessel.

HISTORY -- P&O European Ferries (formerly Townsend Thoresen), a division of P&O Ferries, was a ferry company which operated in the English Channel from 1987 after the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster, when Townsend Thoresen was renamed P&O European Ferries, until 1999 when the Portsmouth Operations became P&O Portsmouth and the Dover Operations were merged with Stena Line AB to make P&O Stena Line.
