ORIENT LINE AS USED IN SERVICE STEWARDS BADGE

DESCRIPTION -- Ship's stewards uniform badge from the Orient Line shipping company which is in a very good condition.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The Orient Steam Navigation Company, also known as the Orient Line, was a British shipping company with roots going back to the late 18th century. From the early 20th century onwards an association began with P&O which became 51% shareholder in 1919 and culminated in the Orient Line being totally absorbed into that company in 1966.

SUPERB SET OF ROYAL NAVAL UNIFORM BADGES

DESCRIPTION -- Fantastic set of Royal Naval uniform badges and are dated between the 1940's - 1950's which are genuine originals and are in an excellent condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The Royal Navy is traditionally the oldest part of the British armed forces, founded during the reign of Henry VIII, and so is known as the 'Senior Service'. The official history of the Royal Navy began with the formal establishment of the Royal Navy as the national naval force of the Kingdom of England in 1660, following the Restoration of King Charles II to the throne. However, for more than a thousand years before that there had been English naval forces varying in type and organization.

ROYAL YACHT BRITANNIA THE FLEET REVIEW JUNE 1977 BADGE

DESCRIPTION -- From a most famous of cruise ships the Royal Yacht Britannia, this is souvenir badge from the Fleet Review at Spithead and dates 28th June 1977 and is approx 2" (7cm) wide.

LAPEL PIN BADGE FROM THE WINDERMERE STEAMERS LINE VESSEL THE SWAN

DESCRIPTION -- Original souvenir lapel pin from the vessel the Swan from the Windermere Steamers Company, which is in an excellent condition and dates from the 1940's/1950's.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- Windermere is famous for its 'Great White Birds' - the steamers of the company are named TERN, TEAL, SWAN and SWIFT. The term  'steamer' is a slight misnomer however because all the ships are now diesel powered although there is a move afoot to reconvert one of them back to steam power by the new managers - The Windermere Iron Steamboat Company.  The TERN and SWIFT were built for steam power in 1891 and 1900 respectively. The TEAL and SWAN in 1936 and 1938.

HISTORY -- The Duke of York  was a steamer passenger ship initially operated by the London Midland and Scottish Railway which saw service from 1935 to 1964.  She was renamed HMS Duke of Wellington  for the duration of World War II.

HISTORY -- The MV Lion was a twin-screw motor vessel, built by Cammell Laird of Birkenhead, UK in 1967 as a passenger and roll-on roll-off car ferry for the Irish Channel service.

HISTORY -- The Stena Line is one of the largest ferry operators in the world. With services serving Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom, Stena Line is a major unit of Stena AB, itself a part of the Stena Sphere. Stena Line also owns the Swedish vessels of the otherwise German- and Danish-owned Scandlines.
