DESCRIPTION -- Covering the story around this fantastic vessel the author Gary Buchanan has produced a great book full of pictures and stories of a legend of the sea. Now thought to be out of print and cost around £20 back in the 1990's (click on the picture to see some pictures of the inside of the book).

HISTORY -- Queen Elizabeth 2, often referred to simply as QE2, is a retired British ocean liner converted into a floating hotel. Originally built for the Cunard Line, Queen Elizabeth 2 was operated by Cunard as both a transatlantic liner and a cruise ship from 1969 to 2008. She was then laid up until converted and since 18 April 2018 has been operating as a floating hotel in Dubai

DESCRIPTION -- This book covers the famous story of the sad loss of the White Star liner the Titanic and how it was eventually found at the bottom of the ocean. It contains over 60 pages of great pictures and stories and is in a great condition and is now out of print being over 30 years old.

HISTORY -- Of course we all know that the RMS Titanic was a passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage. One of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, she was built between 1909'11 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. She carried 2224 people.

DESCRIPTION -- Book entitled The Maritime Forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and covers the period of 1973 to 1983. It contains reference to over 700 ships of some 126 classes and covers the major ships and helicopters of the NATO naval forces. It is written by S.V. Goodman and D.C. Teague and is a very interesting book of information covered in many pages.

HISTORY -- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization or NATO, also called the (North) Atlantic Alliance, is an intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on 4 April 1949. The NATO headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium, and the organization constitutes a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defence in response to an attack by any external party.

DESCRIPTION -- Fabulous booklet covering the centenary of the Wilhelmsen Shipping Company which covers in fine detail its fleet of vessels between the years of 1861 - 1961 and is in a great condition and a rare find (click on the picture to view some of the pictures inside).

HISTORY -- The company Wilhelmsen was founded in Tensberg in 1861 by Morten Wilhelm Wilhelmsen as a brokering and ship chandlering company and eventually became the largest Norwegian shipping company. In 1865 he entered ship owning when he purchased a share in the barque MATHILDE. The company's first steamship, the TALABOT was purchased in 1887.

DESCRIPTION -- This is a book from 1958 and is entitled 'First Aid in the Royal Navy'. It is in a good condition and a rare find. The book contains over 50 pages and was a common booklet produced for the Royal Navy and for general use. Very interesting to see how time has changed where the methods used and the way we treated people were somewhat different to the way it is done nowadays.

DESCRIPTION -- Very old example of a traditional book found onboard cruise ships years ago which is a 'Lifeboat Handbook Guide' and dates from the 1960's. It is in a very good condition and contains many pages of interesting features concerning lifeboat drills and use in case of emergency. This is a fascinating book and one that is rarely seen these days (click on the picture to view the inside of the book).

DESCRIPTION -- Superb book entitled These Splendid Ships and is the story of The Peninsular & Oriental Line by the author David Divine. It was published in 1960 and contains over 250 pages of interesting facts and pictures. The history of this great shipping line is explored in great detail and is a great read.

HISTORY -- The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) has a celebrated history dating back to the 1830's. It was incorporated by a Royal Charter in 1840, and its name therefore includes neither "PLC" nor "Limited". The initials "P&O" are among the most familiar anywhere, and its house flag, older even than the Company itself, is one of the best known.

DESCRIPTION -- Very famous and commonly used book entitled Flags, Funnels and Hull Colours by Colin Stewart. With copies always generally found onboard most ships, this particular copy was found from onboard the SS Nevasa of the B.I.S.N.C. and signed by the Commander and dates dates from 1963 and is in a great condition.
