DESCRIPTION -- Sealed pack of 12 souvenir matches from the P&O Line vessel the MV Aurora which are unopened and unused and a genuine souvenir, and show on the reverse a picture of the vessel.

CONDITION -- Unused/Excellent

HISTORY -- MV Aurora is a cruise ship of the P&O Cruises fleet. The ship was built by Meyer Werft at their shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. At over 76,000 tonnes, Aurora is the smallest and oldest of six ships currently in service with P&O Cruises.

P&O CRUISES ASHTRAY SHOWING ON THE FRONT THE NAME ARCADIA

DESCRIPTION -- P&O Cruises souvenir round ashtray that shows on the front the name of the vessel Arcadia and is a later type souvenir and is 4" (11cm) wide.

HISTORY -- P&O Cruises is a British/American cruise line based at Carnival House in Southampton, England, operated by Carnival UK and owned by Carnival Corporation & plc. Originally a constituent of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, P&O Cruises is the oldest cruise line in the world, having operated the world's first passenger ships in the early 19th century.

TWO HANDLED DINNER BOWL FROM THE P&O VESSEL THE CANBERRA

DESCRIPTION -- Fantastic rare item to find from the P&O Line vessel the SS Canberra which is a two handled dinner bowl as used in service and is 6" (15cm) wide including handles. It is bottom marked and looks as new and dates from the 1950's. Canberra pieces are becoming very hard to locate.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- For 37 years the SS Canberra was a very familiar sight in Southampton's Western Docks and in ports the world over, particularly Sydney which, it could be said, has been her second home. In April 1982 the unthinkable happened when Britain went to war in hopefully the last colonial campaign in her history and for the first time in 42 years a P&O liner was requisitioned for service as a troop transport. During the three months of the Falklands campaign she made headlines the world over, and she became a household name as she continued her peacetime role.

WOODEN SOUVENIR DISH FROM THE P&O VESSEL THE CHUSAN

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir from the P&O Line vessel The SS Chusan which is a wooden dish which shows in the centre the company houseflag and is dated circa 1960's and is 5" (14cm) wide.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The SS Chusan was a British ocean liner and cruise ship, built for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O)'s Indian and Far East Service in 1950. She was named after Chusan, a small island off China. A smaller version of the SS Himalaya, the Chusan had a gross register tonnage of 24,215; and a capacity of 1,565 passengers and crew. She was built as a replacement for the ship RMS Viceroy of India, lost in the Second World War. She was 646.5 feet (197.1 m) long.

SIDE PLATE FROM THE P&O LINE VESSEL THE SS CANBERRA

DESCRIPTION -- From the vessel the SS Canberra this is a side plate shown in the traditional company pattern. It is in a very good condition and very collectable with the size being 6" (16cm) wide and rare to find available today.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The Canberra was the first modern liner, with engines located after to increase passenger space, and many other innovations. She personified the best in design of her era, having an extremely elegant profile. By carrying emigrants on the ten pound assisted passages to Australia, she provided many happy memories for them, as she also did for the many who sailed aboard her in her later incarnation as a cruise ship. Canberra was the ship that began the affordable cruise industry in England.

SAILING PAPER DETAILS FROM THE P&O LINER THE SS MONGOLIA DATED 5TH MARCH 1935

DESCRIPTION -- From 1935 this is official paperwork regarding tickets and shipping details for the P&O vessel the SS Mongolia. Sent out on behalf of Thomas Cook & Son Limited the paperwork in in a good condition and very collectable.

CONDITION -- Good

HISTORY -- The SS Mongolia was a steam turbine-driven twin-screw passenger-and-cargo ocean liner launched in 1922 for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) for service from the United Kingdom to Australia. Later in P&O service she sailed for New Zealand, and in 1938 she was chartered to a P&O subsidiary, the New Zealand Shipping Company, as SS Rimutaka.

UNOPENED LAST FAREWELL VOYAGE CAN OF FOSTERS LAGER FOR THE P&O LINE VESSEL THE ORIANA

DESCRIPTION -- From the P&O Line vessel the Oriana a can of unopened Fosters Larger produced to celebrate the last ever voyage of the vessel.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- Originally resplendent with her owners' traditional corn coloured hull, the Oriana appeared as an Orient Line ship until 1966, when that company was fully absorbed into the P&O group. Faced with unprofitable around the world passenger routes, the P&O white hulled Oriana was operated as a full-time cruise ship from 1973. Between 1981 and her retirement from service five years later, Oriana was based at Sydney, Australia, operating to Pacific Ocean and South-East Asian ports.

HISTORY -- The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, which is usually known as P&O, is a British shipping and logistics company which dates from the early 19th century. Following its sale in March 2006 to Dubai Ports World for 3.9 billion, it became a subsidiary of DP World; however, the P&O brand has been retained. The company was headquartered in London, in the United Kingdom; it was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

EARLY PEWTER TANKARD FROM THE P&O VESSEL THE SS CANBERRA

DESCRIPTION -- From the P&O Line shipping company this is from the famous 'War Commissioned' cruise ship the SS Canberra and dates from the 1960's. It is an early solid pewter tankard which shows on the front the company houseflag and the size is 4" (10cm) high. The item is in a fairly good condition with the tankard having suffered a couple of knocks and slight dents but is an original from the vessel (The set of 4 paper coasters showing in the picture are not included)

CONDITION -- Good/Fair

HISTORY -- The SS Canberra was an ocean liner, which later operated on cruises, in the P&O fleet from 1961 to 1997. She was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland at a cost of 17,000,000. The ship was named on 17 March 1958, after the federal capital of Australia, Canberra. She was launched on 16 March 1960, sponsored by Dame Pattie Menzies, GBE, wife of the then Prime Minister of Australia, Robert Menzies. She entered service in May 1961, and took her maiden voyage starting in June. During the 1982 Falklands War, she served as a troop ship.

VERY EARLY STYLE & EXCELLENT CONDITION LOUNGE ASHTRAY FROM THE P&O LINE [P]

DESCRIPTION -- Original early example lounge ashtray from the P&O Line shipping company which is in a fantastic condition and one of the early styles to be used on board a cruise ship.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The P&O Line first introduced passenger services in 1844, with a leisure cruise departing from Southampton to the Mediterranean. These voyages were the first of their kind and the forerunner of modern cruise holidays. The company later introduced round trips to destinations such as Alexandria and Constantinople and underwent rapid expansion in the later half of the 19th century, with its ships becoming larger and more luxurious.
