HISTORY -- The company, based in Piraeus, was founded by Athanassiadis Prodromos, better known as Bodossakis. The name "Bodossakis" derives from the Turkish equivalent of "Prodromos". He was born at the end of the 19th century in Nigdi, Asia Minor, in a very poor family. This Greek shipping Line is no longer in existence.

DESCRIPTION -- Postcard size colour photograph of the Ellerman Line vessel the City of St. Albans which is in an excellent condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- Ellerman Lines was a UK cargo and passenger shipping company that operated from the late nineteenth century and into the twentieth century. It was founded in the late 19th century, and continued to expand by acquiring smaller shipping lines until it became one of the largest shipping firms in the World. Setbacks occurred through heavy losses to its merchant fleet in the First and Second World Wars but were overcome in each case.

DESCRIPTION -- Large size photograph of the Bank Line shipping company vessel The Hollybank and the size of the photograph is 8" x 6" (21.5cm x 16.5cm) and is in an excellent condition.

HISTORY -- The "Bank Line" is part of the "Andrew Weir Shipping Co. Ltd." founded in 1885 and established in London. The "Bank Line" was formed by Andrew Weir in 1905 and since that time has been operating regular services between Europe and the South Pacific. Another subsidiary of "Andrew Weir" is "McAndrews", a ship agency organization that provides services throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Its regional offices are located in Spain and Portugal. It was established in 1770 by William McAndrews as a shipping and trading company.
