[ONLY 1 AVAILABLE]
CONDITION --
HISTORY -- The original cruise liner RMS Queen Mary, built in 1937 made her 516th and final voyage to Long Beach, California on December 9, 1967. Queen Mary rests in the Long Beach harbour, converted into a hotel and tourist attraction. Guides' voices echo in the now-empty engine room, where 27 boilers once generated 160,000 horsepower. She's been in Long Beach longer than she sailed the oceans, and the ship has become an icon for its home city.

DESCRIPTION -- Dating from the 1950's this is a great souvenir propelling pencil from the RMS Queen Mary. Purchased on board this item is in a very good condition and is boxed.
[ONLY 1 AVAILABLE]
CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- The Queen Mary's creation and launch was nothing if not extraordinary and her story is rich with history, elegance and grandeur. From the time her construction began in 1930 in Clydebank, Scotland, the Queen Mary was destined to stand in a class all her own. Despite suffering economic setbacks during the Great Depression, which stalled construction on the ship for several years, Cunard Line spared no expense on building the Queen Mary - which was originally known as job #534.
NOTES -- Over many years now Travellers in Time have listed a great deal of unusual items on the website. For information on any of these or other interested items we can always be contacted at sales@travellersintime.net for all maritime enquiries.

HISTORY -- In 1968, the Queen Elizabeth was sold to a group of American businessmen from a company called The Queen Corporation (which was 85% owned by Cunard and 15% by them). The new company intended to operate the ship as a hotel and tourist attraction in Port Everglades, Florida, similar to the use of Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Elizabeth, as she was now called, actually opened to tourists before Queen Mary(which opened in 1971) but it was not to last.

HISTORY -- The second RMS Laconia was a Cunard ocean liner, built by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson as a successor of the 1911-1917 Laconia. The new ship was launched on 9 April 1921, and made her maiden voyage on 25 May 1922 from Southampton to New York. At the outbreak of World War II she was converted into an Armed Merchant Cruiser, and subsequently a troopship. Like her predecessor, sunk during the First World War, this Laconia was also destroyed by a German submarine. Some estimates of the death toll have suggested that over 1,649 people were killed when the Laconia sank.
