MARITIME BOOK SELECTION
MOSTLY RARE, DELETED OR DIFFICULT TO FIND
DESCRIPTION -- This book was given out on tours of the Queen Mary 2 when it was first built, and is in an unused as new condition. Not able to purchase this book and gives a great insight into the new Cunard Line vessel as it was launched.

HISTORY -- Queen Mary 2 is the seventh largest cruise ship in the world. Built at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique yard for Cunard in 2003, the Queen Mary 2 was, at the time, the largest ocean liner ever constructed. The Queen Mary 2 embarked on its maiden voyage from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in January 2004.

DESCRIPTION -- Book entitled 'OCEAN SHIPS' by B. Moody and was published in 1974. It is a fabulous reference book of ocean going ships vessels and it contains great details of many vessels and contains over 350 pages. The size of this book is 5" x 7" (13cm x 19cm) and a great many people use this particular book as a reference guide. This book is as new and in a virtual MINT CONDITION.

DESCRIPTION -- Maritime book which is entitled 'THE MODERN WORLD BOOK OF SHIPS' and is by Raymond Blackman. It was published circa 1949 and is full of pictures and details of many great ships of the past. It is a general listing of ships and is a very interesting book and it was a popular book in its time and has some superb photographs within it and has over 150 pages and the size is 8" x 10" (21cm x 27cm).

DESCRIPTION -- This book was published circa 1950 and is called 'The Wonder Book Of Ships' and gives details of the great days of British Merchant sail and has many great photographs within it. There are many great pictures and drawings, accompanied by details of the many British Merchant Ships of the past and it contains over 220 pages and the size is 7" x 9" (19cm x 25cm). It is a very important reference book which is used by many people these days.

DESCRIPTION -- Pair of Royal Naval Books from the early 1940's and both of these books are in a good condition for their age and are now deleted and hard to locate. They are as follows:
1) 'Royal Navy' by Lieutenant-Commander Alan Baddeley R.N. This book was published in 1942 and gives great detail and action pictures of the time. Also includes many great pictures and stories of the period. Contains 164 pages.
2) 'The Worlds Warships' by Francis E. McMurtrie A.I.N.A. This book was published in 1941 and has some fantastic pictures. Contains 131 pages.

DESCRIPTION -- Old wartime naval book which is entitled 'Action Stations' - The Royal Navy At War and is by Rear-Admiral A.G. Thursgold. He was the naval correspondent of the Times newspaper and it contains some superb photographs at sea and some great action views, containing in total over 75 illustrations and pictures of action shots and published in 1941 (click on the picture to see some of the pages of the book).

DESCRIPTION -- Interesting book called BUSINESS IN GREAT WATERS by GEORGE KERR which is a war history of the P&O shipping company during 1939 - 1945. It includes some great full colour pictures and items such as the sinking of the 'Viceroy Of India', and some of the last pictures of the 'Rawal Pindi' by Norman Wilkinson. It is a very collectable book and is now very scarce to find available.
