HISTORY -- The Ben Line or Ben Line Steamers, Limited was a Scottish shipping company based at Leith, Scotland which specialised in the fast carriage of cargo to and from the Far East. A private company, it was largely owned by members of the Thomson family from Leith and the Mitchell family from Alloa.

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- The SS Orsova, a 1503-passenger ocean liner, was built by Vickers Armstrong Shipbuilders Ltd. of Barrow-in-Furness, England, in 1954 for the Orient Steam Navigation Company for UK to Australia services via the Suez Canal, the voyage taking four weeks. After 1955, the return trip was eastward via Auckland, Suva, Honolulu, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Panama, Trinidad and Cherbourg.

DESCRIPTION -- Large sized colour photograph of the original old vessel The Oriana with the overall size of the photograph being 15" x 11" (39.5cm x 29cm)

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The SS Oriana was the last of the Orient Steam Navigation Company's ocean liners. She was built at Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria and launched on 3 November 1959 by Princess Alexandra. Originally resplendent with her owners' traditional corn coloured hull, Oriana appeared as an Orient Line ship until 1966, when that company was fully absorbed into the P&O group. Faced with unprofitable around the world passenger routes, the P&O white hulled Oriana was operated as a full time cruise ship from 1973.

HISTORY -- The Blue Star Line was a British passenger and cargo shipping company formed in 1911, and in operation until 1998.

DESCRIPTION -- B/W photograph of the vessel The Carinthia which is in a great condition and an early photograph.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The RMS Carinthia was an ocean liner built in 1956 as one of the four Saxonia class ships. She sailed for Cunard Line from her completion until 1968 when she was sold to for Sitmar Line, rebuilt into a full-time cruise ship and renamed SS Fairsea. She sailed with Sitmar until 1988, when Sitmar was sold to P&O. She was renamed SS Fair Princess and sailed for Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises until 2000. She was then sold to China Sea Cruises and renamed SS China Sea Discovery. In 2005 she was scrapped in Alang, India.
