DESCRIPTION -- Extra large size colour photograph of the famous P&O vessel The SS Canberra with the overall size being 24" x 20" (61cm x 51cm)

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The SS Canberra was an ocean liner, which later operated on cruises, in the P&O fleet from 1961 to 1997. She was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland at a cost of 17,000,000. The ship was named on 17 March 1958, after the federal capital of Australia, Canberra. She was launched on 16 March 1960, sponsored by Dame Pattie Menzies, GBE, wife of the then Prime Minister of Australia, Robert Menzies. She entered service in May 1961, and took her maiden voyage starting in June. During the 1982 Falklands War, she served as a troop ship.

DESCRIPTION -- B/W photograph of the old working vessel Erne which is in a great condition and one of many from our collection.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The Erne, was a 1,692 ton, iron sailing ship with a length of 255.6 feet (77.9 m), breadth of 38.3 feet (11.7 m) and depth of 23.2 feet (7.1 m). She was built by Russel & Company for the Nourse Line, named after the River Erne in northwest of Ireland, and launched in May 1886. She was primarily used for the transportation of Indian indentured labourers to the colonies.

DESCRIPTION -- B/W photograph of the Bank Line vessel The Riverbank. The photograph is taken from our collection of over 2000 shipping photographs and it is in a very good condition and protected in a plastic wallet.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The Bank Line was registered in 1905 by Andrew Weir. Weir originally started in ship owning in Glasgow in 1885 with sailing ships. His fleet contained sailing ships until 1912 but had already started purchasing steam ships in 1896. "Bank" had been used in the name of Weir's ships from the outset. Bank Line operated services between Europe and the South Pacific. Bank Line lost many ships to enemy action in both WW1 and WW2. In 2003, The Bank Line (South Pacific) service was sold to The China Navigation Co Ltd (CNCo), the deep sea shipping arm of the Swire Group.

DESCRIPTION -- Large size colour photograph of a vessel from the fleet of the Lauritzen Reefers Company. The size of the photograph is 16" x 20" (41cm x 50cm) and the item is in a fantastic condition and would look great framed.

HISTORY -- The Lauritzen Reefers is a Denmark based shipping line that specializes in cold cargoes. Their red-hulled ships with their own deck mounted cranes are a common sight in ports around the world. Lauritzen containers bring meat, dairy, and seasonal fruits into North America and carry citrus, apples and pears out to the rest of the world. One of the two containers in the pack is leased from triton and carries the TRIU reporting marks.

DESCRIPTION -- B/W photograph of the Union Castle Line vessel The Pendennis Castle. The photograph is taken from our collection of over 2000 shipping photographs and it is in a very good condition and protected in a plastic wallet.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The Pendennis Castle was the replacement for the ageing 1921 built Arundel Castle. She had been ordered in early 1955 and her design had undergone many changes. However she became the best loved, finest and fastest mailship in the Union-Castle fleet. Famous as the "Fun Ship" of Union-Castle she loyally served until 1976 when she was withdrawn from service. She was sold but despite several owners she remained laid up in Hong Kong and sadly never sailed again. Eventually in 1980 she was sold to be scrapped in Kaoshiung in Taiwan, a sad end for a much loved and stylish ship.

DESCRIPTION -- B/W photograph of the Ben Line vessel Benstag which is an original old photograph and not a copy.

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The origins of the Ben Line company started in 1839 with the completion of the sailing ship CARRARA for William and Alexander Thomson to import marble from Italy. In 1847 Alexander Thomson retired from the partnership and William Thomson & Company, Leith was founded. The main trade at this time was coal to Canada, returning with cargoes of timber. In 1859 the first voyage to Singapore, China and Japan took place and eventually the Far East became the company's major trade route. Routes were extended to the Baltic and Mediterranean, and the Canadian timber trade ceased in the mid-1880's.
